Qualifications and trainings

As a somatic systemic therapist Emmalou holds accreditation with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), Systemic Family Practitioner membership with the Association of Family Therapists (AFT), Level 3 Internal Family Systems therapist membership with the IFS Institute (IFSI), foundation level training and membership with Bodynamic International Somatic Psychotherapy and Analysis, and is currently undergoing accreditation training with the International Somatic Movement and Education Therapy Association (ISMETA) and a Masters under UKCP membership.

They’ve supported adults, children and young people, and families for over ten years within the NHS alongside founding ENSOU Expressive Arts Therapy in 2013 to support people into deeper exploration and connection with their embodied experiences and expression - from a polyvagal, trauma centred and embodied developmental attachment approach - to fully articulate, connect with and communicate in full authentic awareness and wholeness. Finding right relationship inside and out.

Emmalou practices active commitment to anti-oppressive, expansively humane and somatically informed political embodied reclamation; centring somatic, spiritual and systemic abolitionism, embodied social justice and accountability mapping as channels towards liberatory, transformative justice and emergent growth; personally, relationally, and in service to poly partnerships, couples, families, collectives, community and culture building. Which takes shape within their personal and professional praxis in the following ways |
  • Self selecting scale fees based on social location, access to education, opportunity and cultural capital; including donation base and 'pro-bono' sessions
  • Alternative non-capital sharing exchanges based outside of a traditional capitalist labour structure
  • Redistribution of earnings recognising reparative economic justice and the impacts of racial capitalism
  • Re-centring, re-learning and reclaiming intuition, dreams, acknowledgements, transparency informing relational coordinates of care, learning from and uplifting indigenous teachers and wisdom cultures
  • Honouring the pace and rhythm of the body with particular appreciation to the gifts of Tricia Hersey and practices of resisting grind culture
  • Forming lived experience community collectives, transcending europatriarchal and medicalised power hierarchies in favour of peer co-ops, cultivated within and serving local community needs | StromaSomatics.org

Emmalou finds resource welcoming in and connecting to source, ecological and strength ancestral intuitions and guidance through dedication to Latihan Kejiwaan, authentic movement medicine, somatic resonance circles and abolitionist triads within community and in connection to the more-than-human world. Working as a commitment to disrupt and reclaim choice and intentionality within their own tissued bodymind, cultivating self energy and returning back to ‘point’ as Rev angel might say, considered ‘a practice not a perfect’ in service of personal and collective liberation through relationally woven culture change.
